BILL IRWIN : MY PHOTOGRAPHY
I am a full time photographer based in Methven, New Zealand, mostly photographing rural landscapes and people.
For the self-generated work, I photograph subjects or themes that interest and connect with me then find an outlet for them (not always apparent at the time!). This goes against all business models for making a good income as a photographer, but enjoyment of each day and freedom of personal creativity is the reason I am a photographer.
As a full time professional photographer I constantly refine my skills. I have achieved NZIPP Qualified status (Portrait Division) and collected several print awards in the annual Iris Professional Photography Awards. Producing images that exceed expectation is my aim. In this age of image overload I want to connect and work with people who appreciate real service and exceptional images

PAT BISHELL
Starting at a very early age I was brought up amongst flowers, but never imagined where that hard work would take me. An interesting journey, on which I love to take other people along with me, and share my love of gardening and floral designing.
The appreciation of foliages and flowers which I grow, inspire me to create all styles of design. The challenge, which I set myself and other people, is advancing with new ideas.
The approach “Less is More” toward contemporary/modern designing, as promoted through the Floral Art Society of New Zealand, is continually inspiring. Workshops with New Zealand and overseas tutors, keeps us up-to-date with work techniques and ideas.
The Methven Summer School Workshop, in Floral Art Design, offers participants the opportunity to observe demonstrations of new ideas, trends and techniques.
Participants will be encouraged to be hands on with demonstration pieces of techniques.
I am a member of the Geraldine Floral Art Group – South Canterbury Area and also the Waimea Floral Art – Nelson/Marlborough Area. My qualifications include Plant Knowledge, Design, Scheduling and Stewarding Units. My latest achievement is the New Zealand Floral Art Society National Diploma of Teaching.
I was born and raised in Marlborough and since 2004 we have lived in Mid-Canterbury. Mid-Canterbury has allowed me to advance considerably by the challenge with speak with groups, demonstrating my Floral Art designing and sharing my knowledge of plants and trees.
I have also achieved the Certificate of Adult Teaching, units toward a diploma in Plant Propagation and have my diploma in Adult Literacy Tutoring.
CHERYL IRWIN
I have been making art and craft of every description since I was a small child. Although I have participated in courses to numerous to mention and studied formally for 2 years I mostly feel I have been “life-taught” by listening very carefully to my own heart, intuition and by paying close attention to my body and my feelings.
I paint, sculpt and make jewellery. I love learning new technologies and the challenge of designing in new materials, so I was drawn to the possibilities of Precious Metal Clay.
My art explores the junction of the physical and spiritual worlds. I am fascinated by my own thoughts and the incredible power of my attitude to not only influence but to actually create my own reality. I feel that art is a process like a language, taking emotions and thoughts from the spiritual world and translating them in to a presence here in the physical world, allowing me to share the all-encompassing, ever-loving, sheer beauty and bounty of the universe as I know it.
Cheryl’s work can be viewed at Bryce Gallery in Christchurch.

WILLIAM COTTRELL
In the late 1980s William Cottrell packed in his job as a film editor at TVNZ and went overseas. While travelling in Europe he decided to turn his passion for antique furniture into more than just an interest and took up an elite apprenticeship with master furniture- restorer David Hordern in London. Back home in New Zealand, William has earned himself a prestigious reputation for retrieving and reinstating over-restored and badly damaged pieces of period European and New Zealand colonial furniture. His unique line of work has made for some interesting stories.
He has had classic and invaluable furniture pass through his hands and has worked on pieces by the likes of Thomas Chippendale and William Kent. Te Papa's curator of applied arts paid him a visit just prior to the Museum's completion and was bowled over by the extent of William's own collection of New Zealand early settler furniture. Te Papa ended up purchasing around a third of the pieces William had in his possession at that time.
In 2002 William, his Italian wife Simonetta Ferrari and their children moved to Gunyah, an Edwardian homestead near Darfield. Gunyah is a ten-hectare estate, with 30 rooms and, of course, a huge collection of antique furniture. Even the children's bedrooms house remarkable collections. At Gunyah William continues his restoration business and the family run a retreat for tourists in the homestead.
