About the Course

This event will be a highlight in the beer-lover’s calendar, not to be missed. Dick Fife, Master Brewer for Dux de Lux, will take you on a journey through the history of beer and its production techniques. You will be given a guide to different styles of beer, and will sample approximately 10 beers of all varieties to discuss and form an evaluation of them. In addition,

Dick will discuss with you how to successfully match beer and wine with different foods. Those who have attended other year’s beer tasting will tell you - this will be a fun night!

About the Tutor

After training as a chef, Dick Fife chose to enter the brewing industry when the Dux de Lux opened its brewery in Christchurch in 1990, and  was appointed as Master Brewer in 1996. He has judged beer both nationally and internationally, and also received numerous national and international Beer Awards for the Dux Beers from 1996-2006.

Dux de Lux was the first NZ Boutique Brewery to win an international award when it won the 2003 Grand Champion Trophy from the Australian International Beer Awards. For the last 6 years, Dick has also participated in the Vintages at Felton Road Wines in Central Otago.
