About the Course

Come and enjoy the opportunity to draw and paint the beauty of the female figure. Some prior life drawing knowledge would be an advantage. Susie tutored this course at last years summer school with great success and this years course will be along the same lines. She has been figure drawing with a live model weekly all of 2011 and wishes to share the added practical knowledge with panache and vitality. So if you were there last year Susie would love to see your face again!  We will start loosening up by practising techniques to ease our creative side into the process of art making and achieve energised works in a relaxed social atmosphere.

The process will take people from pencil to paint in a nutshell. Watercolour is Susie's desired medium, therefore water colour paper would be required . Feel free to bring acrylics and oils if that is  your style.

A requirement list will be sent to you with your course confirmation letter.

Susie has a "Visual Communications Art Certificate" and since has continued night classes in figure drawing at Christchurch Polytech, Auckland Outreach and at the Ashburton Society of Arts.

It is important to have formal training in life drawing to realise correct proportions and work with pleasing compositions. Susie hopes to take your work to the next level by helping you put emotion into your work, flowing with the curves and giving a flourish to the human form. Water colour is the ideal medium as it is moody and lends itself to the delights of originality.
