CHEESE MAKING
This is a hands-on course for anyone who is interested in where their food comes from. We will discover the process used to make cheese using equipment you will find in your own kitchen. You will go home with the knowledge to replicate the cheese making process in your own homes. You will make feta, haloumi, ricotta and speedy mozzarella in this day course with heaps of cheese to take home and share with your family. We will also learn how to make camembert and brie, which are a multi-day cheeses and not possible to make in just one day, but will be easy enough for you to make at home.
Judith Sommerville
Judith Sommerville and her husband have a dairy farm situated under the mountains at Alford Forest. She started cheese making when they converted to dairying nine years ago and has been learning ever since. She enjoys the process and loves using the milk produced on their farm, where they use biological principles to create a healthy environment for their cows.
Judith is an ex school teacher who will enthusiastically get you involved in her passion for making cheese. When Judith is not making cheese she is out in the back country tramping.
