INTRODUCTION TO GLASS FUSING: MAKE A JEWELLERY PIECE
Using a full fuse in the kiln to create your own pendant earrings.
Learn how to cut glass, about how the kiln works, and load the piece into the kiln which will melt overnight.
Once fired, Tash will drill holes to make pendant earrings. These will be available to pick up from summer school or posted by arrangement.
Introducing Tash Sim
Tash is the first female glazier in New Zealand. After leaving College she was encouraged to learn a trade and started an apprenticeship as a glazier. She immediately loved her job and knew she had chosen the right trade.
She was eager to learn everything she could about glass, especially the creative side of it. 23 years later she is still enjoying glass as much as in the beginning and is still learning every day.
"It is a great feeling opening the kiln in the morning and discovering your creations," she says.
Tash had a hugely successful exhibition in 2026 right here in Methven at the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall art gallery.
