PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP – LINOCUT AND DRYPOINT

In this one-day workshop with Soon-Lee Spicer, you will create a linocut and a drypoint print. For the linocut, you will carve out your design into a plate of lino (much like a stamp), roll it with ink, and press it onto some beautiful fine art papers and silk scarves - the results are striking and vibrant. For the drypoint print, you will engrave your design into your choice of a plastic plate or recycled Tetrapak, rub ink into the engraving and then print it onto paper. The results are subtle and intriguing. You will take home with you your piece of lino, your drypoint plate, and several prints of each, including one on a silk scarf. This course is suitable for anybody wanting to have a go at printmaking, and no drawing ability is required.

About Soon-Lee Spicer

Soon-Lee is a printmaker artist, working out of her studio in Darfield. She enjoys the practical nature of printmaking, the way it translates a drawn image in a vibrant and vivid way, and its ability to generate several pieces from one plate. As well as regularly exhibiting and selling her work, she also holds art classes for adults and children. Her key focus in her classes is ensuring people can achieve something satisfying and stimulating within a lesson, and that they feel relaxed and encouraged to simply have a go. She loves teaching printmaking, especially the moment a person peels back their paper off their inked plate for the first time.
